Mirror Mirror is an exhibition and publication featuring contemporary artists whose work could be classified as portraiture (in the broadest sense of the word). A portrait is most commonly recognized as a likeness of the face, or upper part of the human form. The artworks challenge dominant paradigms about such things as gender, race, age, societal norms, technology, and beauty. The emphasis on the exhibition is on provoking curiosity and discussion rather than providing a definitive definition of what constitutes a ‘portrait’.
