Transmission: Legacies of the Television Age

This thematic exhibition considers a range of artists’ responses to, and engagement with, television, sets and screens, visual broadcasting and the transmission of information. It includes Australian and international practitioners, with works dating from the late 1950s, when television was becoming a mass medium, to today. Within the exhibition there is consideration of television as a means of global communication; a mediator of technology; a distributor of pop culture and consumerism; a filter of media and the news; a vehicle for a new ‘reality’; and a transmitter of information.… Continued

Curated by Glenn Barkley, Remain in Light: Photography from the MCA Collections is a MCA Australia touring exhibition of over 70 artworks by Australian and international artists collected by the University of Sydney and the Museum of Contemporary Art during a period spanning more than 50 years. The Windsor: A Future for the Past

Concentrating on one of Melbourne’s finest architectural monuments, The Hotel Windsor, Papapetrou delves into the archive to discover how the grand Victorian edifice looked around the time of Federation, how it formed a backdrop for public ritual and witnessed the growth of Melbourne into the age of the electrical tramway. Joining forces with Stewart Russell from Spacecraft Studio, Papapetrou has transformed the photographic record, recreating the images in silver and gold, on linen and glass. … Continued
